Jon Kung & Zingerman's Collaboration Gift Box

Jon Kung is a chef, content creator, podcast host, and cookbook author from Detroit. His social media channels are filled with videos that explore traditional Chinese cooking techniques used with foods from around the globe.

When we asked Jon to share some of his favorite Zingerman's foods, he assembled a collection to make a fabulous pasta dinner. In his words, “Using tinned fish as an add-on to pasta is such an easy way to bring a ton of flavor to a hearty meal with minimal effort. I do it when I need to put something together really quickly or when I’m out camping as all of these things start off without needing refrigeration.”

Carosello Fusilli: “Going with a Michigan-made pasta here. Bronze extruded to cling onto those tasty oils from the tin.”
Parmigiano Reggiano: “People say you shouldn’t mix cheese with fish, I don’t think that applies to tinned fish. A good parm will take any dish far.”
Ortiz Bonito Loin Tinned Tuna: “Tuna is so versatile and a good start to anyone who wants to play around. It’s tasty but familiar and it is comfortably served warm or cold to most palates.” 
Spicy Tinned Mussels: “We get into using spicy tinned mussels for the level up here. Briney with a gentle kick these are also a very sustainable option in tinned seafood.”
Roi Olive Oil: “A flourish of good olive oil to finish any pasta dish, top with some salt and pepper and you’re ready to go.”
Sun Dried Sicilian Tomatoes: “And a foil to the richness of the fish comes in the form of sun dried tomatoes.”
